What’s Virgo’s Alchemy?

Hi! Welcome to my on-line Shop and Creative Space 🩷

Virgo’s Alchemy is the name of my Art Studio and small handmade business, now here in Texas!

“Virgo” because that is where my stardust hails from, and “Alchemy” because that is what I do!

I have a rather diverse background in many different creative niches, but I’m mainly known for my Resin Doll Eyes, Art Dolls, and my Handmade Soaps and Candles.

I started creating art dolls in polymer clay in early 2000, shortly after, I found my love for Cold Process Soap Making, Candle Making, and just about anything else you can find in a good ole fashion Farmer’s Market.

My style is a bit twisted, quirky, and a lot of the themes I choose are based on the nostalgic memories of my GenX childhood.

I’m very proud of being the FIRST to fully design and create tiny eye base silicone molds, specifically for OOAK Art Doll Sculpture Artists.

My journey with eye making has been a true labor of love, starting back in early 2000. Back then, there were no good options for Art Doll artists who needed eyes as small as 2mm. The only option was to use tiny beads or tediously hand make eyes using balls of clay, and usually poorly printed iris images. Blah!

My major break-through came in 2014, when 3D printing started to enter into the mainstream. Being a former employee for a CAD Software company and SolidWorks Reseller in the late 90’s, I already knew the potential CAD would have eventually in the “Art World”.

In 2016, I had the pleasure of meeting with Todd Debreceni, an award-winning Hollywood Special Effects artist, at his creative space in Denver Colorado. With the help and support of Todd’s 3D modeling experience and skills, I was able to finally bring my eye base molds to life.

I took inspiration from larger doll eye makers for BJD’s, and created custom designed molds for Artists who work in much smaller scales. It’s been a passion of mine for over 2 decades 🩷

It’s now 2024, and we are neck deep in the era of AI. Things like 3D modeling and printing is much more commonplace, therefore there has been a surge in other mold makers giving us much more in terms of options and variety.

More recently, I found my love for Blythe and Icy doll customizing, and eye chip making as well.

To me, the eyes are the most important aspect of any figurative art. It brings life and soul into your creation, and ultimately determines the personality and realism of a piece. To me, the eyes can literally make or break aesthetic value and quality.

I genuinely have a passion for many things in the Handmade and Art Doll niches, so please excuse my rather creative eclectic site.

I hope that you find something helpful, inspiring, or just something you can’t live without while you’re browsing my shops!
