I’m so pleased to finally be the proud owner of a genuine Neo Blythe! I made my purchase from Junie Moon online shop in September 2025. It took longer than their website stated for shipping, but it wasn’t that bad, only close to 2 weeks to ship, and it arrived shortly after, even despite the tariff nonsense that is/was going on.
I purchased the Flower Girl of Happiness because she embodied so many characteristics that I love. From her mint green hair, to her cute vintage “Anne of Green Gables” style outfit. I was totally mesmerized by the quality sewn clothes, and her gorgeous little face.
Upon unboxing her, I did notice that her hair was extremely dry at the ends, and almost had a gumminess to it. This was unlike anything I’ve experienced before with AliExpress dolls, so it took me a little by surprise.

I started to inspect her body closely, and that is when things unfortunately became a bit worse. There were some pretty unsightly marks over nearly half her body. Internal structure wires protruding out of her legs, near both sides of the ankles, multiple visible indentions, and pretty severe gouges near the upper inside “hip” areas of both legs. Due to the marks on her lower legs, I’ll never be able to dress her in shorter socks ðŸ˜

I reached out to Junie Moon, as a first time customer with an issue, and was immediately referred to their manufacturer, The Good Smile Co. That also took me by surprised considering I sent them photos of the damaged body, and figured they would be willing to help.

Reluctantly, and somewhat frustratingly, I reached out to Good Smile. They came back with a generic response telling me that these unsightly manufacturing defects were actually “features” of their “stock inventory” and therefore would not be replaced.
Once again, shocked, I felt as if someone had just gutted me. How could a collectible doll like this have these kinds of visual defects and be considered “features”?

I’ve purchased countless DBS dolls, Icy etc from AliExpress, and have never had any doll body come to me in this condition. To compare a $160+ collectible Blythe with a $40 AliExpress doll, I expected them to at least be equal in quality.

Although I do love my new Neo Blythe, to say I’m disappointed is a rather severe understatement. Not only am I disappointed with the poor quality of my doll, but also the rather lack luster customer service from both Junie Moon and Good Smile.
These are only a few of the many areas that are damaged/flawed. There are also weird spots and fleck of what appears to be debris stuck in the plastic pretty much all over the doll’s legs.

Honestly, I feel as if I cannot use her body at all, so I basically just paid for her head and scalp, clothing and accessories – essentially half a doll.
I’m not sure if this is the “standard” quality that these dolls offer to collectors, but if it is, I can see why so many have opted for the AliExpress dolls to be quite honest. I waited for years before purchasing my first genuine Blythe, waiting for the perfect one to come along.
The amount of marks and damage to this doll body was beyond reasonable in my personal opinion, and should have been replaced.
Instead of taking the chance on purchasing a fake vintage doll, believing it was real, I decided to purchase a newer doll from a reputable retailer.
So my advice to anyone purchasing one of these dolls for the first time, just know it’s possible you could end up with a doll like mine, and then be told to basically go pound sand lol.
I’m sure I’ll be in the market for more Neo Blythe dolls in the future, I just feel that more people should be open and honest about their experiences with these things to hopefully encourage better customer service and product quality from retailers and manufacturers.
