I have received a lot of questions regarding this product, and I’m very happy to write this article which will bring some clarity as to where to get it, and why the retail on it is so high.
Introducing Kyan’s Works UV Modeling Paste!
This UV Modeling Paste is manufactured in China and is specifically used to make incredible customizations for Blythe and Icy dolls. Using a UV light source, it cures into a very solid hard plastic like finish that blends seamlessly with the ABS plastic used to manufacture specific dolls such as Blythe and Icy.
You can use the transparent uncolored version to create amazingly realistic teeth, or you can color it yourself using small amounts of acrylic paint to match the tone of your specific doll’s “skin”. Thin it out with baby oil, or preferably Cernit Magic Mix (Oil). It can be sculpted and then sanded or drilled after fully curing. It comes in tins that are sealed due to it’s photosensitive qualities, and must be kept away from all sunlight and other UV light exposure until you are ready for it to cure/harden.
I have seen this product retailing for ridiculous prices. Absolutely absurd. When I carried it, I did the standard retail markup which covered my cost, shipping, and other fees – but I never tripled or quadrupled the price like I have seen multiple sellers doing online. I personally have a major problem with price gougers because I’m an artist too, and I take it personally.
This item can easily be purchased under $12 USD from the manufacturer through Superbuy. Yes, you will still have to pay for shipping (local and international) however, the final cost should be way less than if you purchased from a retailer who is tripling or quadrupling the price. Note: Please be very cautious/careful when purchasing this product from a Seller who does not confirm it is the genuine “Kyan’s” Works product. It should come with a specific seal from Kyan’s, that once broken, is void of warranty due to it’s photosensitive qualities.
What about different colors/shades? If you are wishing to purchase this item in a specific skin tone designed to match Blythe faceplates, you can easily request this information through Superbuy agents and they will negotiate and arrange this for you with the Seller/Manufacturer. There is a slight increase in price for colors.
When purchasing some items on Superbuy, such as this one, you will see a disclosure that you will have to agree to, as seen on the left. This is just saying that they do not have any specific way of making sure that this product is what you are looking for when you make a purchase. They don’t have any specialized knowledge of it, and therefore cannot “test” it or verify it’s credibility.
By providing this direct access/link information, I’m empowering my readers and customers to choose whether or not to cut out the middle-man, and save some money. I personally do not have any problem with retailers selling these things to make it easier and more convenient for US buyers, but taking advantage of people by price gouging is not an ethical quality of any retailer.
