For years, it was an absolute obsession of mine to find the most heat resistant, non-yellowing, non-toxic, 2 part epoxy resin that could dome and cast resin eyes bases. Many 2 part epoxy resins claimed to have these qualities, but never quite lived up to my rigorous testing and experimentation.
I’d like to first point out, that all epoxy resins will eventually start to break down over time. It’s the nature of epoxy resin to do so. However, with proper handling, care, and storage, quality resin pieces can last for decades with little to no signs of visual changes.
Coming from the Polymer Clay OOAK Art Doll world, I was on a mission to find a 2 part epoxy resin AND a UV resin that could withstand polymer clay curing temperatures (230F-275F) without visual yellowing, cracking, melting, bubbling, or any other unwanted side effects from heat exposure.
This was a somewhat risky mission, as most resins are not very heat stable, and if tested incorrectly, can produce toxic fumes and/or other harmful reactions.

I personally use Brilliant Resin to cast eye bases, and then UV Resin Hard by Qiao Qiao DIY for my domes/lens. Once fully cured, the 2 products work seamlessly with each other. You can also dome using Brilliant Resin, I just prefer to do the domes faster with UV Resin.
